Tools for nail preparation
How long polish lasts depends on preparation. You need a pusher and nippers to remove the cuticles, a file to shape the nail and a buffer block to smooth the surface. File grit is marked with numbers: the lower the number, the coarser the file. 80–100 suits artificial nails, 180–240 natural nails.
Bits for e-files
Carbide bits are the most effective for removing gel polish and working on artificial nails. Diamond bits are gentler and suit the cuticle area and natural nails. Ceramic bits heat up less, which makes them comfortable for longer treatments. Bits also differ in grit – the colour of the ring on the bit shows its coarseness.
Brushes
Flat brushes are for spreading gel, round brushes for sculpting and thin liner brushes for nail art. After working with gel, wipe the brush with cleanser and store it bristles up so it keeps its shape.
Sterilisation
Reusable metal tools must be disinfected after every client. The standard sequence: washing, disinfectant solution, ultrasonic bath and sterilizer. Disposable bits and files should be replaced, not cleaned.
