Nail brushes – 46 products from €2.15. The brush decides whether the gel levels out evenly or leaves ripples, which makes it one of the most important tools at your station. Flat brushes are for spreading and shaping gel, round brushes for building the apex, thin liner brushes with long bristles for drawing lines, and short flat brushes with an angled tip for French smile lines. Bristles come in natural (kolinsky) and synthetic: synthetic bristles are more resistant to cleansers and suit gel work, while natural ones are softer and more comfortable for watercolour techniques.

Which brush for which job

Builder gel is spread with a flat square brush, which lets you level the layer across the whole nail. An oval brush is more comfortable for building the apex at the arch. A liner brush draws fine lines, while a dotting tool is used to place dots. For a French manicure, a brush with an angled tip is used.

Care

After working with gel, wipe the brush with cleanser and reshape the bristles with your fingers. Always store it bristles up or lying flat – stored bristles down, they become deformed. Never leave a brush with gel on it in the light: the gel will cure between the bristles and the brush will become unusable.

When to replace

When the bristles no longer form a pointed tip or start to split. With such a brush you will not be able to draw a clean line, however good your technique.
