PolyGel combines the control of gel with the strength of acrylic and cures in the lamp, while the acrylic system cures in air, with no lamp needed. A fill is usually needed every 3–4 weeks. Three systems, three different ways of working

The gel system is the most convenient for beginners: builder gel cures only in the lamp, so you can work at your own pace. PolyGel combines the properties of gel and acrylic: the product holds its shape in the form without running, but cures in the lamp. The acrylic system cures in air, with no lamp, so it demands faster work but gives the strongest structure.

Gels by viscosity

Thin gels self-level and are suited to strengthening the natural nail. Medium-viscosity gels are all-rounders, suitable for both fills and lengthening. Thick gels won't run off the form, which makes them ideal for sculpting a long free edge.

Forms and tips

Dual forms let you shape the nail in a single press and shorten the service. Paper forms and reusable forms give you more freedom when shaping, but require skill. Tips are glued onto the natural nail and are ideal when you need a quick result.

What you need besides the gel itself

For extensions you will need a base coat for adhesion, a brush for sculpting, a file for shaping and a lamp for curing. E-file bits come in handy for fills – they remove the grown-out layer without damaging the natural nail.
