The pedicure and podiatry workstation
A pedicure chair differs from a beauty therapy chair in one essential detail: independently controlled leg rests. They let you comfortably turn and raise each leg separately, so the technician doesn't have to bend or twist.
Electric adjustment
Three-motor models control the height, the backrest and the leg section. This is the standard for podiatry, as the position has to be changed several times during a treatment while your hands are busy. Five-motor chairs also rotate the seat or separate the leg rests with even finer control.
Height and access
The most important thing is that the chair lowers far enough: this lets the client sit down easily, while you work seated rather than hunched over. If you work with older clients, the minimum height is the most important parameter.
Care and maintenance
Disinfection in podiatry is intensive, so the upholstery must be resistant to alcohol-based solutions. Choose models with seamless upholstery without deep stitching, where dirt can build up.
