Nail Foils

Nail foils – 83 products from €0.50. Transfer foil gives an effect you can't achieve with polish: mirror-like metallics, marble veining, holographic shimmer or a crumpled-paper texture. The technique is simple but needs precise timing: the foil is transferred when the special glue turns clear and tacky but is not yet dry. Press the foil on shiny side up, hold for a second and peel it off sharply. The result is always slightly random, which is exactly why marble and crinkle effects look so natural.

Transfer technique

Apply a thin layer of foil glue over the cured colour layer. Wait until it turns from white to clear, usually 1–2 minutes. Lay the foil matte side down, press with a finger or a silicone tool and peel it off sharply. Peeling slowly gives an uneven transfer.

Why the foil won't transfer

There are two common causes: the glue is still wet or has dried out completely. A second cause is applying the foil the wrong way round. The shiny layer must stay on top, with the matte side touching the nail.

Sealing

The foil must be sealed with a top coat, but the brush should be drawn in one direction without pressing, otherwise the metallic layer will wrinkle or rub off. For thick foils, two thin layers of top coat are better than one thick one.
