Acrylic system
Acrylic system – 9 products from €2.90. This is the oldest and still the strongest nail extension technology: acrylic powder is mixed with monomer and cures in the air, with no lamp at all. That means you have to work quickly – the mixture begins to thicken within half a minute, so every bead is placed and shaped straight away. In return you get a structure that withstands a heavier load than gel, which is why acrylic is often chosen for very long nails and for clients whose nails keep breaking. The drawback is the strong monomer odour, so good ventilation is needed.

How to work
Dip the brush into the monomer, wipe off the excess, then pick up a bead of powder. Place it on the form and shape it with the brush while it is still soft. The right bead consistency is neither runny nor dry, but similar to damp sand.
Ventilation
Monomer has a strong smell and its fumes are not harmless. Ventilation and a dust extractor are essential when working with acrylic, and gloves and a mask are recommended.
Who should choose acrylic
For very long nails, for clients who do heavy manual work, and for those whose gel structure keeps breaking.
