"CAT EYES"

"CAT EYES" – magnetic gel polishes with a cat eye effect, 35 colours from €2. The polish contains metallic particles that respond to a magnet: hold it against an uncured layer and the particles gather into a bright band of light. The direction and width of the band depend on the position of the magnet, so the same polish can give completely different results – diagonal, horizontal, a star or a double line. The effect is most striking over a dark base and depends heavily on layer thickness: a layer that is too thin simply doesn't contain enough particles.

How to get a bold band of light

Apply a dark base colour and cure it. Apply a layer of CAT EYES – it must be thick enough for the particles to move. Straight away, while the polish is still liquid, hold the magnet about 3–5 mm from the nail for 5–10 seconds and cure without moving the nail away from the magnet.

Most common mistakes

A layer that is too thin – the band will look faint. The magnet too far away – the effect will scatter. Curing before bringing the magnet near – there will be no effect at all, because the particles are already locked in place.

One nail at a time

Use the magnet on each nail immediately after applying the polish, not on all of them at once. By the time you apply the fifth nail, the polish on the first will already be starting to thicken.
